Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is the main railway operator in Peninsular Malaysia. Formerly it was known as an agency under the Malayan Railway Administration, it is now known as KTMB following the corporatisation of government-led campaign in 1992. However, KTM is still owned by the federal government. History of wagons system started during the British colonial era, when the railway was originally built to transport of tin. Train fares are quite reasonable, but the speed Intercity trains (intercity) low narrow paths often lead KTM transport less competitive than other forms of transportation.
